Plastic corrosion resistant bearings are manufactured with different materials but the most commonly stocked types have acetal resin rings & balls and nylon cages. The balls are normally 316 grade stainless or glass . These bearings are generally used as corrosion resistant bearings or non magnetic bearings. We can supply to order corrosion resistant [plastic bearings] with rings, balls and cage made of different materials from the more corrosion resistant Polypropylene to the very corrosion resistant and high temperature PTFE and PEEK.
Standard plastic bearings are only suitable for low loads and low speeds and should not be used in temperatures greater than 90C. PEEK and PTFE can be used up to 260C. We normally stock our standard plastic bearings open but they may also be supplied as ZRS with one acetal shield and one rubber seal. Plastic bearings are semi-precision. Normal inner and outer ring tolerances on these bearings are +/- 0.07mm. Other sizes of plastic bearings are available but may be subject to minimum order quantities.
Plastic bearings are lighter in weight, non-magnetic, and have a low coefficient of friction. Lower cage friction equates to reduced heat generation. Plastic bearings often allow more flexible designs. And, they are highly resistant to dust, dirt, chemicals and corrosives. SRG plastic skf bearings are engineered to run permanently freeof lubrication, and, because they are highly resilient, their long service life is virtually maintenance-free.
Features and Benefits of Plastic Bearings
SRGhas successfully used engineered plastics in a variety of automotive, aircraft, agricultural and industrial bearing applications
Plastic designs reduce wear and friction, survive environmental extremes, abate noise and reduce weight while maintaining bearing performance requirements and price constraints
Kilian’s knowledgeable and experienced engineers are familiar with many, various grades of nylons, acetals, thermoplastic elastomers, polyurethanes and rubber products in plastic bearing design
Fillers such as glass, mineral, PTFE, or electrically conductive additives further enhance the performance of SRGplastic bearing designs thus supplying great product enhancement that offers lower cost alternatives to steel bearings
SRG plastic bearings are usable on many types of shafts, and offer better vibration dampening than other alternatives. They also operate quieter. SRG engineers and manufactures standard plastic iko bearings and bearing assemblies, in a wide range of dimensions. Modifications to standard bore or OD, or special features such as thin sections, can be engineered and prototyped quickly, thanks to SRG’s advanced modeling software and bearing design prototype program.
